General sensor setup guide
The vendor-neutral steps that apply to every sensor system we support.
This guide covers the steps that apply to every sensor system we support. Vendor-specific details (pairing apps, exact device models) live in each vendor's own documentation — links at the bottom.
1. Decide what you need to measure
List every zone where you want ventilation control and the readings each zone needs: temperature, CO₂, humidity, and presence. This list maps directly to the sensors you order.
2. Confirm accounts and access
3. Plan the gateway placement
Each sensor system has a gateway, such as a hub or Cloud Connector, that needs power and stable internet. Place it centrally relative to the sensors it serves. Thick concrete, metal cabinets, and long distances all reduce range.
4. Place the sensors
Mount sensors in the breathing zone (≈1.1–1.8 m above the floor). Avoid ceilings, direct supply-air streams, exterior walls, doorways, and direct sunlight. One sensor per room or per ≈50 m² is a sensible baseline — refine based on the room.
5. Name zones consistently
6. Pair the devices
Follow the vendor's pairing flow in their app. Most systems claim a sensor automatically once it is powered up and within range of a paired gateway.
7. Wait, then verify
Allow at least 30 minutes after power-up before troubleshooting. Open our site dashboard and confirm each sensor is reporting and the readings look reasonable.
8. Troubleshoot if needed
No reading after 30 minutes usually means the sensor is out of gateway range, the gateway is offline, or the sensor was never claimed in the dashboard. Re-check those three before escalating.
