Building management system

Identify your BMS

Not sure which BMS your site has? Work through this checklist to find out.

#bms#discovery#onboarding

Building management systems are often hidden in plant rooms or service cabinets and are rarely clearly labelled. This checklist helps you identify what you have so we can plan the right integration.

Look for a screen or operator panel

Most BMS platforms have a touchscreen or web interface somewhere on site, usually in a plant room, electrical cabinet, or facility office. Note the brand name and any visible model numbers.

Check vendor labels and stickers

Cabinets, controllers, and IO modules normally carry vendor labels (e.g. IWMAC, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Trend, Distech). Photograph anything you see and send the photos to us.

Ask the facility manager or installer

Whoever maintains the building usually knows the system vendor and may have remote access. Get the contact details and any login information we should coordinate around.

Look for network presence

If the BMS is networked, it has an IP address on the building network. Network maps, switch port labels, or the IT team can help you find it.
